Dua for Blessings and speedy recovery from disease:

It is narrated that Aisha r.a. said that when anyone among them had an illness, the Prophet s.a.w. used to rub the area of the pain and recite the following dua for protection:

Allahumma Rabban-naas, azhibil-ba’s, washfi antash-Shaafi laa shifaa’a illaa shifaa’uka, shifaa’an laa yughaadiru saqamaa

“O Allah, Lord of mankind, do away with my suffering. Heal (me) as You are the only Healer and there is no cure except that of Yours, it is that which leaves no ailment behind”

(Al-Bukhari)

dua for good health

Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite this prayer in large numbers to build good health and character.

Pronunciation: ‘Allahumma inni asalukas sihta wal iffata wal amanata wa husnul khulukbi war ridai bilkwadri.’

Meaning: O Allah! I wish you good health, good character, trustworthiness, good nature, and satisfaction of fortune.’ (Al-Adab al-Mufrad)

dua for protection from illness

This dua for protection from illness should be our constant prayer at this time – and it carries an important reminder that our refuge is always in Allah (SWT):

Pronunciation: “Allah humma inni a’udhu bika minal-barasi, wal-jununi, wal-judhaami, wa min sayyi’il-asqaami.”

Meaning: “O Allah, I seek refuge in you from leprosy, insanity, elephantiasis, and the worst of diseases.” [Abu Dawud]

dua for depression

‘O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye, and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except You.’

‘O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, in Your Mercy I seek relief.’

Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyoom birahmatika astagheeth

Dua of Prophet Yunus (A.S.): ‘None has the right to be worshipped except You. How perfect You are. Verily, I was among the wrong-doers.’ – (Al Anbiya, 87)

La illaha illa anta subhanak ‘inny kuntu min aldhaalimeen

Of this dua, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is reported to have said: “No Muslim supplicates with it for anything, ever, except Allah responds to him.” (Tirmidhi)

‘To Allah, we belong, and unto Him is our return. O Allah, recompense me for my affliction and replace it for me with something better.’

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Allahumma-u’jurni fi musibati, wa akhlif li khairan minha.

Uthman Ibn Abi Al-’As r.a. reported: I complained to the Messenger of Allah s.a.w. about a pain I had in my body. The Messenger of Allah s.a.w. said, “Place your hand where you feel pain and say: ‘Bismillah (In the Name of Allah)’ three times; and then repeat seven times: ‘A’udhu bi’izzatillahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa ‘uhadhiru (I seek refuge with Allah and with His Power from the evil that afflicts me and that which I apprehend).”

(Sahih Muslim)

As we put our hand on the area of pain with the intention to find relief, recite the following:

Bismillah

In the Name of Allah

‘A’udhu bi’izzatillahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa ‘uhadhiru

I seek refuge with Allah and with His Power from the evil that afflicts me and that which I apprehend.
