نستخدم can’t/cannot للتعبير عن عدم القدرة أو الإستطاعة

هناك صيغتين لنفي فعل الإستطاعة إلا أن الصيغة الأكثر إستخداماً في الحياة اليومية هي can’t و الثانية cannot علماً أن المعنى لايختلف أبداً في كلتا الصيغتين.

أمثلة:

I can’t play football – أنا لا استطيع لعب كرة القدم

he cannot speak Arabic – هو لا يستطيع تحدث اللغة العربية

نستخدم can/can’t للتعبير عن الإمكانية أو إحتمال حدوث شيئ

you can go out if you feel bored – تستطيع الخروج إذا كنت تشعر بالملل

نستخدم can لطلب شيئ ما أو منح الإذن لفعل شيئ ما

can I have a cup of coffee please?- هل أستطيع الحصول على فنجان من القهوة رجاء؟

can you leave me alone? – هل يمكنك أن تتركني وحيداً؟
